Genetics Are NOT Everything!

For those people who believe that genetics are a limiting factor in your quest to put on lean muscle, and develop a high quality physique that is capable of turning heads, I am here to tell you otherwise. Now, I am not saying that genetics do not play a part in one's ability to create their physique, because it does, but it's definitely not an excuse for not achieving a super fit body.

Take ectomorphs for example. Ectomorphs are people who have a genetic body type (long limbs, naturally fast metabolism, overall thin structure) where gaining weight, including muscular weight is extremely hard to do. I said hard, but not impossible! Their body tends to burn off the calories consumed at a faster-than-normal rate, so there are many factors which must be adhered to in order for these people to gain even one measely pound of muscle.

Now, these "hard-gainers" could just complain to themselves and others about how most of the people out there are more naturally inclined towards gaining muscle and how their given speedy metabolism and genetic structure are just not optimal for bodybuilding and therefore why put in as much effort, or even try in the first place. That would be the easy thing to do. Much more easier than realizing that genetics only play a part of the entire physique developing process, and getting your butt in the gym while eating right is what you should be doing instead of wasting time worrying over what you don't have. This is what many people do. They use genetics as an excuse. Don't let this be you.

It's true that genetics play a role in how fast you may gain muscle or lose fat, but with the right eating strategy, adequate rest and intense training, anyone can take their body to a level beyond what they ever thought possible. For some it may take longer, others will gain more easily, but it all comes down to learning your body and then applying what's needed to develop your physique at the quickest rate possible.

Because an ectomorph's metabolism is so fast, they have to ensure that they take in enough calories per day, as well as enough calories per meal, which is usually more than what most people would even dream of eating on a day-to-day basis. Eating so much food per meal is what these fast-metabolismed people need to do in order to get their body growing. It's not fun, or convenient, but this is what's required. They also CANNOT miss ANY meals throughout the day. They must eat every 2 hours, giving themselves enough protein, carbs and good fats to keep their body in a positive growth state. If they miss a meal or do not eat enough at each meal, then their gains come to a crawl. Even worse, they may lose some of the lean muscle they've have worked so hard for.

Hard Work And Patience Will Overcome Genetics

So as you can see, building a high-caliber physique is not a cake-walk, but rather a reality of having to make adjustments and doing whatever is needed to compensate for and make the most of what your genetics and metabolism happen to be. Despite those who are naturally skinny, with a thin, light structure, many of these people have been able to pack on quality muscle over the course of several years. Notice I didn't say six months or one year, but SEVERAL years. Building your physique and reaching your fitness goals takes time as well as a lot of patience, but it CAN be done - no matter how good or bad your genetics may be. For all of you out there that feel that your genetics are holding you back, think again, because it is definitely possible to build a championship physique.
