If there is one activity that we both enjoy doing most together, it would be heading to the gym 4-5 nights per week to do our workouts. Lifting weights and keeping fit, while maintaining a healthy diet is a lifestyle we both share a passion for. It's not only something we love to do, but we also look at it as an investment to our health, our quality of life, as well as the quality of life for our kids to come. Working out and eating clean is the one thing (along with family and friends) that we view as a constant in our lives. My wife and I met at the gym, had long-standing passion for working out before we met, and continue to share and reap the benefits of exercise and healthy living to this day, so I don't ever see that changing.
Since my wife becoming happily pregnant, we have had to learn how to juggle pregnancy (and all of the many changes and adaptations that come with it) into our daily life's balancing act. As far as working out goes, she still makes it to the gym 4-5 days per week (with me) and sports her baby-belly by wearing her Lululemon clothing (half-tops) while enjoying her lower-intensity workouts..always making sure to listen to her body as she goes. When I see her at the gym working out still (at 6 months pregnant), I smile and think to myself, "this is the coolest thing ever..she is definitely hardcore!". She has had many people come up to her and say she looks amazing and it's so cool to see her focused and having fun with her workouts. For me, seeing her working out while pregnant and still being able to share such a major passion together by prioritizing things and making time for the things we have always loved to partake in, just further assures me how important leading a healthy lifestyle is, and how we'll implement certain elements into our parenthood era soon to come.
It just goes to show you that you do not need to give up something you love to do, just because you're having a baby and suddenly hit with more responsibility. It's all about balance and not allowing any one thing to consume too much of your daily life. I guess the old saying of "too much of anything is never a good thing" is true after all!
